Calaveras Genealogical Society - Meetings and Special Events

General Membership meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Chesebrough Room at the Calaveras County Library in San Andreas unless otherwise noted. 

A different program is presented each month.  All membership meetings are open to the public. 

Board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the small conference room at the Calaveras County Library in San Andreas.   

July 1st is the start of a new fiscal year with annual membership registration due on that date.

September 12:

"Organizing the Branches of your Family Tree" presented by CGS member Valarie Beadle

Valarie will walk through setting up digital and offline files, labeling for easier sorting and preserving of documents and images and going from a working file to a completed album of a particular line, family or individual.  Valarie is a CGS member, local realtor, Member of the Association of Professional Genealogist; National Genealogist Society and Family History Consultant for the LDS Church, specializing in "the Great Emigration-1620-1640", Early Coloninal America and Western European research. 10 a.m. - 12 noon. at the Calaveras County Library, San Andreas.

Writer's Group Special Interest Group (SIG) Meeting

The first meeting of the Writers Group SIG's. will be from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the Chesebrough Room at the Calaveras County Library.

This group will meet on odd number months after the general meetings.  If you are interested in getting going or continuing with your writing projects, plan on coming to this first meeting to see what the group will be about and give your input on what you would like to get out of this group.  Bring a lunch and any completed writing projects you would like to share.

September 30:

"Discovering Our Ancestry Through DNA" Workshop Presented by Linda Parker-Magellan and Katherine Borges

Copperopolis Armory, 695 Main Street Copperopolis, 95228.  Doors Open at 9:00 a.m.

Preregister by Sept 27: CGS Members $15, Non-Members $20.  At the Door Registration: Members $20, Non-Members $25.

October 4:

"Create Gifts and Holiday Decor with your Family Research,” presented by artist and CGS member Wendy BLACK.

Wendy describes the inspiration behind this class: "Learning my family's stories from the past has made my ancestors come alive for me. I identify with their joys, sorrows, successes and mistakes. Then they sit hidden in boxes and files. Let's use photos, mementos and documents to create gifts and decor for yourself and family members and immortalize those ancestors for future generations."

Technology for Genealogy & Brick Wall Busters Special Interest Groups (SIG's) Meeting

12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Bring your lunch, technology if that is your problem and join the Computer Tech and Brick Wall Busters Groups for their meeting.
