Calaveras Genealogical Society - Meetings and Special Events

General Membership meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Chesebrough Room at the Calaveras County Library in San Andreas unless otherwise noted. 

A different program is presented each month.  All membership meetings are open to the public. 

Board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the small conference room at the Calaveras County Library in San Andreas.   

July 1st is the start of a new fiscal year with annual membership registration due on that date.

"Genealogy in Scandinavian Culture" by Eric Smith, Historian

Discover the importance of genealogy to Scandinavia.  Pre-Christian Europe kept oral records for hundreds of years before learning to write.  Find out how this compares to medieval genealogical evidence along with how Viking-age naming practices affects our genealogy today.

"Creating Family Stories from Research" - by Marian Kile

If we don't have the details of our ancestor's lives, we still can develop meaningful stories to capture what they might have seen or did during different times in their lives.  Marian will show us where to begin, where to research and how to bring it all together. 10:00 am - noon, Chesebrough Room at the Calaveras County Library.
