“DNA Basics & Follow the Leads” – Inspiring, real-life stories of finding family through DNA, presented by Linda Trudeau, an artist, photographer and self-taught genealogist.  Linda meets irregularly at the Arnold Library to instruct aspiring genealogists on the finer points of ancestry research, hoping to help others find that moment where they connect the dots of their family history. Linda has learned that DNA testing can facilitate such "ah-ha!" moments, sometimes after systematically uncovering the relationships between DNA matches and sometimes after receiving one life-altering email. If you attended CGS’s September 30th DNA workshop, this is a great follow-up program; if you missed it, you won’t want to miss Linda’s information and personal success stories.  10:00 a.m. - Noon, Calaveras County Library, San Andreas.

"Creating Your Life Story Through Pictures and Other Memorabilia," presented by Cassandra Heyward, a volunteer at the Regional Family History Library in Sacramento.  If you've ever wondered what to do with those shoe boxes of pictures and keepsakes you've been collection all your life, or thought about how - properly organized - they could tell your life story, this meeting is for you!  Cassie will remind us why it's important to share 'how we live our dash' (the line between our birth and death dates), tell us where we can get FREE access to high speed photo and document scanners, step us through the process she used to create wonderful picture books about her life and her growing family, and discuss what to do with all those original photos and falling-apart scrapbooks, after incorporating them into finished projects.  This approach can either be an end in itself or a complementary path to writing your life story. 10 a.m.-12 noon
